GYROTONIC® Tower Class
This small-group class is taught on the GYROTONIC® pulley tower, a unique weight- and pulley-based apparatus that is at the center of GYROTONIC® exercise. You'll work your entire body through a series of fluid, circular-based exercises that incorporate resistance for strong, lean muscles along with increased mobility, flexibility, coordination, and balance. Recommended to start at Beginner Movers level or do a Beginner 3-pack of Private or Duet classes before taking a group class.
This is an intermediate class offering a greater challenge in strength and flexibility as students enjoy investigating, playing, and expanding their practice and unlimited potential. It will continue to refine familiar poses, and begin exploring a variety of advanced asanas. Appropriate for students with some previous yoga experience. Students should be versed with handstand at the wall as well as pushing up into urdhva dhanurasana (backbend). Expect a supportive, dynamic and playful environment.
The Iyengar method of Yoga defines itself by 3 key elements: technique, sequence and timing:
Technique means ever finer adjustments in the alignment of one's asana (poses) and pranayama (breath control).
Sequence refers to the sequences in which asana and pranayama are practiced.
Timing refers to the length of time spent in postures or pranayama. Postures cannot be done swiftly or without awareness. It takes time to move into a posture and become stable. When this has been achieved then one remains stably for some time to intensify the depth of the posture and so extract its benefit.
A Jivamukti Open class presents classical yoga teachings as relevant to one’s life on and off the mat, drawn from the Focus of the Month essay, supported by chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyasa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation and meditation. All Open classes include 14 points—asanas, meditation and spiritual teachings—in a sequence creatively designed by the teacher. Exuberant, eclectic music plays an integral role: you might practice to a shifting soundtrack of ragas, global trance, hip-hop, spoken word, George Harrison, Sting, Krishna Das, Donna de Lory, Michael Franti, Bill Laswell, Alice Coltrane and Mozart.
These classes are designed to focus on the actions of the poses, in alignment with the power of the heart. The classes are based on Anusara Yoga’s Universal Principal of Alignment. Integrating them into your practice of yoga, in order to serve the creative flow of life through each breath and posture. All levels are welcome.

Practice at your own level of ability, fitness level and circumstance. You don’t need to be physically flexible; all you need is to come, breathe, move, sweat, let go.
